This service line covers two related things: technical advisory (hourly help when you don’t need a project) and on-site infrastructure (the hardware exception — firewalls, on-premises servers, network protection).
Technical advisory
Sometimes you need someone competent to spend an hour with you, look at the situation honestly, and tell you what they’d do if it were their business. Common scenarios:
- A vendor is pitching a $40,000 system and you want a sanity check
- You’re picking between two software platforms
- You inherited an IT setup and don’t know what’s safe to change
- You need a quick second opinion on a vendor contract
On-site infrastructure
Most small businesses don’t need on-premises servers in 2026. Default is “everything is hosted, accessed via browser, properly secured.” But there are real exceptions where local infrastructure makes sense.

Pricing
Advisory: $185/hour, tracked in 15-minute increments. No retainer required, no minimum. Hour packs available: 5 hours / $850, 10 hours / $1,600.
- Firewall + setup: $3,000–$9,000, plus optional management at $150–$400/month
- Server setup: $5,000–$14,000
- VPN setup: $1,500–$4,000
